Healing Together with Compassion at Clear Path Recovery
Addiction doesn’t just affect the individual—it deeply impacts the entire family. Loved ones often carry their own pain, confusion, and emotional wounds as they witness someone, they care about struggle with substance use.
At Clear Path Recovery, we believe that healing should include everyone. That’s why we offer Multi-Family Therapy as part of our comprehensive detox and recovery programs—bringing families together in a supportive environment where understanding grows and lasting healing can begin.
What Is Multi-Family Therapy?
Multi-Family Therapy (MFT) is a therapeutic group experience that brings together multiple families who are all navigating the challenges of addiction and recovery. Unlike individual family therapy, MFT creates a shared space where several families participate together—listening, learning, and supporting one another under the guidance of a trained therapist.
In this setting, families:
• Gain education about addiction and its effects
• Hear others’ experiences and perspectives
• Practice communication and healthy boundaries
• Explore emotional patterns and how they impact recovery
• Build a stronger, more supportive foundation for healing

How It Works in Detox and Early Recovery
During detox, the focus is often on stabilizing the individual. But as the physical effects of withdrawal begin to ease, it’s important to start addressing the relational and emotional aspects of healing. That’s where Multi-Family Therapy plays a vital role.
At Clear Path Recovery, we invite families to participate in MFT sessions during or shortly after detox, once clients are medically stable and able to engage in therapeutic work.
These sessions are guided by licensed therapists and are built around:
• Education about the nature of addiction and recovery
• Group discussions where families share and listen
• Role-playing and exercises about the nature of addiction and recovery to practice new ways of communicating
• Emotional processing for grief, anger, guilt, and confusion
• Boundary setting and rebuilding trust
MFT helps families understand that they are not alone, and that healing happens faster—and deeper—when done together.
The Benefits of Multi-Family Therapy
Families who participate in MFT at Clear Path Recovery often report:
• Feeling more understood and supported
• Less shame and blame, more empathy
• Stronger communication and conflict-resolution skills
• A clearer understanding of addiction as a disease
• More confidence in supporting their loved one’s recovery
• Healing their own emotional wounds, independent of their loved one’s progress
